Looking after your teeth and gums

We have regular check-ups and services for lots of things in our lives, but it’s often our oral health maintenance that gets left off the list. Regular dental check-ups are important because they allow us to monitor the health of your teeth and gums, and pick up minor issues like damage or decay early, before they become issues that need more extensive treatment.

What happens at a dental check-up

  • We’ll assess the condition of your teeth, gums, and soft tissues to look for any abnormalities, and perform a cancer screening.
  • You’ll have some dental X-rays if they’re required to complete your assessment, and a routine clean by your dentist using ultrasonic scaling.
  • We’ll give you tailored oral health advice, and you’ll get a personalised treatment plan based on your dental needs and assessment results.

An excellent dental practice, with high end equipment. Dr Kamal Missan was sublime when providing me with treatment for a tooth extraction and filling. I was given an appointment at short notice just before the pandemic. I would highly recommend this practice.

Immediate access to quality healthcare

Bridging the gap between you and the care you deserve

At a time when NHS waitlists stretch far and wide, leaving many without timely access to necessary healthcare, Hilton Dental aims to stand as a beacon of hope.

Our doors are wide open for new private patients, offering a swift and efficient pathway to the high-quality, affordable care you need, without the wait. We're also committed to supporting the families in our community by accepting children as NHS patients, provided their parents are enrolled with us as private patients. Make the switch today and experience healthcare that's not just about treatment, but about your peace of mind and well-being.

Decay and gum disease

Decay may or may not cause discomfort, but even if it doesn’t hurt, your tooth could still be deteriorating without you being aware of it.

Early tooth decay doesn’t tend to show many physical signs; sometimes the tooth looks healthy, but only your dentist will be able to see from a thorough examination and an X-ray whether you have any decay under the enamel, any possible infections in the roots, or any bone loss around the tooth.

When cavities are small, they’re much easier and less expensive to treat. Using higher magnification and powerful lighting, we’re able to detect decay at an early stage which helps to prevent excessive tooth damage before it reaches a more advanced stage.

The stages of gum disease

  • Red and swollen gums that bleed when you brush them are a sign of a type of gum disease, gingivitis.
  • When gingivitis is left untreated it can develop further into a type of infection known as periodontitis, which affects the entire area surrounding the tooth, causing discomfort and difficulty when eating.
  • Eventually this kind of infection can lead to tooth loss and may require invasive procedures to replace the missing tooth.

My whole family come here, and you get a welcome when you come here... I know this sounds strange but you become part of the family.

Mouth cancer treatment

Mouth cancer is a malignant growth which can occur in any part of the mouth, including the tongue, lips and throat.

Mouth cancers have a higher proportion of deaths per number of cases than breast cancer, cervical cancer or skin melanoma. The mortality rate is just over 50%, despite treatment, with about 1,700 deaths per year in the UK. This is because of late detection. Visit your dentist at once if you notice any abnormal problems or are not sure. Regular dental checkups allow early detection of abnormalities in the mouth.

Your cancer screening appointment

  • A detailed analysis of your oral health history to determine any risk factors that you might have
  • A thorough examination of the outside of your mouth, head and neck by observation and touch
  • A thorough internal examination of your mouth, including the inside of your cheeks and under your tongue
  • A handheld scanning device may also be used to examine any lumps or lesions that you might have
  • Any inconclusive findings will be referred to a specialist consultant

White fillings

Dental decay happens when the enamel and dentine of a tooth become softened by acid attack, producing a cavity (hole).

If the decay is not too serious, our cosmetic dentist will remove all the decay and restore the tooth with a white (tooth coloured) filling. Our dentists can safely replace silver amalgam fillings with white tooth coloured fillings.
