Your dental implant journey
Our dental implant patients are consulted on a one-on-one basis to ensure you’re fully aware of what the procedure involves, give you comprehensive information on the benefits of dental implants, and provide you with support and guidance to help you to make the right decision for your oral health and dental care.
1. Full mouth examination
The first step is to give our patients a full clinical mouth examination to assess your overall oral health, where we’ll check that there’s enough bone remaining for your implant, your mouth is healthy, and that you’re ready to have your implant.
2. Comprehensive treatment plan
After your examination, we’ll provide you with a comprehensive outline of the proposed treatment, full cost, and go through any questions you might have so you can make the most informed choice for your treatment.
3. What your new smile will look like
Our experienced dental technician will prepare a digital mock-up of your teeth after treatment based on your treatment plan, so you can get a good idea of what your new smile will look like with your replacement teeth. We’ll also schedule your future appointments.
4. Implant placement
At this appointment, the dental implant will be gently placed into the bone, which can take between 3-6 months to heal. If the implant is to be loaded with a false tooth or bridge immediately, a temporary crown can be fitted on the same day.
5. Exposing the implants
If the dental implants haven't been loaded immediately, the next stage is for the dental implants to be uncovered and impressions taken, so the dental technician can construct a custom made post for your dental crown, bridge, or denture.
6. Final fitting
For single crowns and bridges, temporary crowns are normally used to ensure that the correct gum profile has been created for the best possible aesthetic result. The final implant supported crown or bridge (artificial tooth) is fitted approximately a month later, and will leave you with a perfect new smile.
