Having imperfections concerning your teeth can be embarrassing, and we are proud to offer porcelain veneers to our patients who are suffering with this. Our private dentist in Nottingham will do all they can to provide you with the results you’re looking for, whilst ensuring everything is completed to a high standard.
What they are
You may be wondering what veneers actually are, and put simply, they are like false nails for your teeth. They are a thin layer of porcelain that we attach to the front of your teeth to cover any imperfections you may have. They will be custom-made to fit your face shape and mouth size, and you can either choose to have one veneer, a few or a whole new set.
Why would I get veneers?
Improved appearance
This treatment is focused on covering any imperfections you may have on your teeth. This includes things such as chips, discolouration, worn down teeth, irregular shapes and more. Our private dentist in Nottingham will be sure to determine what imperfections you want to cover before the treatment, and will do all they can to cater to your needs.
Confidence
A lot of the time when people come to us for veneers, they are experiencing low self-esteem and this can be really frustrating for them. When you get veneers, it can really improve the look of your smile, which will hopefully help to increase your confidence.
Stain-resistant
We choose to use porcelain veneers at our practice because porcelain is a very stain resistant material. This means that when you have veneers, they will not stain easily and will keep their brightness for a long time.
Easy to maintain
Another thing that’s beneficial when you have porcelain veneers is how easy they are to take care of. There is no special cleaning technique or equipment that is needed to maintain them, which is great if you have a busy schedule. All you need to do is make sure you keep up with the usual oral hygiene of brushing and flossing, and visit us every 6 months for a check-up as you usually would with natural teeth.
What happens throughout the treatment?
Before beginning with the treatment itself, we will first have a consultation appointment with you. This gives us the opportunity to get to know you and your needs, and to examine your teeth and mouth. We will take various scans such as X-rays to get a deeper look at your teeth and bones, as well as photos and videos. These will be used to influence the creation of your custom veneers.
Once your permanent set of veneers is ready, we will invite you back to our practice for your main appointment with our private dentist in Nottingham. This is when your veneers will be attached to your teeth. Before doing this, we may need to file away a small amount of enamel from the front of your tooth to make way for the veneer/s so they don’t stick out. To attach the veneers, we use a type of dental cement and a strong beam of light to harden it. Once this is done, you can walk out of our practice enjoying your new smile!
